Report of the action " Families Passage " directed by Joëlle Rapp, visual artist and Jorge Hernandez, poet sculptor
Instead of "decorating" this passage, as expected, we prioritized sharing, through art and appropriation: «Having painted» rather than painting.
A good example: What to paint? How to paint?
Here the very first painting (of this mother’s life) based on her know-how.
A "mint tea", please !
- ???????
- ... Let’s see you at home, you put the water to boil, You prepare the table etc.
In this exchange she offered and served this tea, this painting.
Mastery and gesture memory transmitted by painting
All the adults who came only to accompany young children painted. The collective nature of these intergenerational workshops allowed for deep exchanges between us all
Painting of a brilliant young man practicing Taekwondo - martial art ( 16 years)
Transmit the quality of energy of his art, in close combat, art against art.
Let us enter into the strength of his art, in his know-how,
rather than in the image of a Taekwondo artist
We learned by entering into the intimacy of graffiti processes which allowed us to develop a pictorial dialogue.
We took children and adults on a journey through their work by teaching them to choose, frame, an approach to composition and rhythm by giving examples of the evolution of the gaze mode.
The meetings were individual but with many collective transmissions.
What to look at
What to say
How to tell
We questioned, children and adults responded and proposed.
It is an action of appropriation of the Passage des Familles within social buildings with help of Municipal youth service and the Cultural Center .
This project was therefore a direct meeting with the population concerned, very nuanced, intergenerational, rich in their differences. These paintings radiate qualities ... to spread in order to move the clichés on neighborhoods.
